I’ve spoken with Chief Hardiman about shortening your hours this week (since it’s unlikely for you to willingly take time off, no matter how much I advise it). Against my recommendation, I’ve found out that your hours were, in fact, not shortened. Instead, you’ve been working more hours than usual.

Believe me when I say that I’m not doing this just to “inconvenience” you, as you claimed during your previous visit. As a police physician it is my sworn duty to make sure my patients are being cared for—and I am seriously worried about your well-being. There is no one in this department that consistently puts their body through more physical trauma than you.

Everyone has their limits and their breaking point. I fear you may be fast approaching yours. Over the last few months, you’ve been pushing yourself beyond what any officer could be asked to do—and then, over the last two weeks, you’ve gone into overdrive.

I prescribed you Zenicodone and Metaphine for pain relievers/muscle relaxants. I don’t know if you’ve been taking them but, regardless, I’m conflicted prescribing you anything. Those aren’t designed to be used just so you can further inflict harm to your body by numbing it. However, if you’re not taking them, I can only imagine what kind of daily pain you must be in. In either case, it’s not good.

Please visit my office this week. As mentioned in my last NetMail, there are further tests I’d like to run.

Dr. Belanie
