Reena’s Journal

Well, I’m officially a student in Sumter Academy and I wish I can say my first day had gone better…

It’s almost 2:30 AM and I have a feeling I won’t be getting much sleep tonight. I really wanted to believe the PCPD’s report that there were no murders here and that we were dealing with two unfortunate accidents and a missing persons case, but now I’m not so sure…

About an hour and a half ago, while in the restroom stall, I heard a girl shouting hysterically. By the time I looked to see who it was, she had run out—but she ended up leaving her NetPhone on the sink with an open text message. It’s easy to see why she was so upset—someone had texted this girl, telling her to meet up in the basement tomorrow night at midnight, threatening her with death if she didn’t! Finding a clue like this should be a big help, right? Nope. I accidentally dropped the phone and broke it…

Okay, before we jump to conclusions, this could just be a prank. Emaly off-handedly mentioned about being careful because some of the students here are notorious pranksters. The way Emaly said it, it sounded more sinister than she probably meant it to be—at least, I hope.

Either way, I can’t ignore this. I don’t know where the basement entrance is—but I’ll need to find out. So far I haven’t had much time to speak with many of the girls here, aside from Emaly (I also haven’t met too many who were all that friendly).

Ms. Keel seems like a nice teacher, though it’s odd that she acts kind of…what’s the word I’m looking for here—timid? Especially towards a few specific students. Sure, some of these girls come from very rich and influential families, but a teacher at a prestigious private school being that intimidated by her students? It’s just weird.

Also, there are surveillance cameras everywhere. It makes me wonder—with the two girls who died here, wasn’t there any footage recorded around the time of their deaths or when that other girl went missing from school grounds? I’d assume there are cameras outside the building too…

All right, I’m rambling. I need to go to sleep. I’m just so wired right now after finding that NetPhone (and breaking it! UGH!). I wonder if the Headmistress bought my lie about me finding Emaly’s NetPhone in the restroom? I don’t think she did. For a split second I almost told her the truth about the mysterious phone. She is the Headmistress, after all. But like Madison said, everyone’s a suspect. I’m not sure, something about Ms. Thorne feels…off? Maybe it’s just because of those piercing eyes of hers!

I know it’s a bad idea to call Madison again, even after finding that text. If my cover gets blown then this was all for nothing. I’ve also noticed my NetPhone signal’s been getting weaker since I called Madison in the restroom. I’m not sure if I could make a call right now even if I wanted to.

Enough writing. Time to go to bed. I’m going to be very tired in the morning…
