Sumter Academy // Student Handbook
Section 2.D — Medications
Certain over-the-counter medications (allergy eye drops, antihistamines, analgesic/antipyretics, cough medications, decongestants, and expectorants, products for lactose intolerance, migraine headaches and motion sickness) and pain relievers may be administered to students by the school nurse, according to the label directions and/or with a parent/guardian’s written authorization.
Prescription medications may be given with the written orders of a MD, DDS, OD, APRN or PA-C, and with a parent/guardian’s signed authorization.
Prescription Medications to be given at school requires:
- A written and signed order form by a licensed prescriber.
- A parent or guardian signature on the form.
Students are NOT permitted to carry medication at school. Controlled substances, as prescribed by a physician, must be stored and administered by the school nurse. A student may not be in possession of more than one dose of an over-the-counter medication.

Wonder what the other members of the school staff are up to?
Bulma, is that you ?XD
Considering this is a girls school, I’m surprised menstrual supplies aren’t mentioned (pads, pain relievers, etc.). Even if the girls are expected to have their own supplies, having backups is rarely a bad idea. Besides, any pain relieving medications for cramps would have to be stored there.
