INTERNAL MEMO
Re: Funding Request
Subj: Advanced Hand-to-Hand Training
Mr. Levkin; Operations Support Division:
I am making a formal request to appoint a combat instructor to the Pallad City Police Department. With the rising crime rates and everyday hazards of the occupation, I am increasingly concerned that my officers are ill-prepared for hand-to-hand fighting situations. Only a few officers come to mind who I believe would be able to efficiently handle a confrontation requiring advanced physical engagement. The select individuals who I believe are adept at handling such, are ones with prior backgrounds as private military contractors. Unfortunately, most of my officers lack such experience.
Years ago, tactical self-defense courses—including those incorporating various martial arts disciplines—were an integral part of a cadet’s training. However, ever since Central Division implemented the Fast Track Enrollment Program, more officers are arriving without the adequate skills for the job.
Despite recent budget considerations, I feel that the assistance of an experienced combat instructor is necessary for the continued welfare of my officers. Not every situation an officer encounters could, or should, be resolved through a firearm alone. Expanding their skill sets should not have budget concerns attached to it.
Respectfully,
Victor Hardiman
Chief of Police, Pallad City Police Department

Flawless victory?
Man, when Madison knows how to crack a rib, she really knows how to Crack-A-Rib, huh? Seems like all of that time in the gym and years of special ops training from back then really weren’t for nothing, huh? This whole scenario here seems SO MUCH like Mortal Kombat in more ways than one, huh?
Ooh, right in the liver.
Daaaamn, that’s brutal!
Only Madison could look smoking hot while breaking a man’s ribs XD
That’s going to hurt for a long time, I broke a few ribs fifty years ago and they still remind me which ones they were whenever it’s going to rain…I have trouble hearing them over everything else, but they’re in the chorus.
I took and was required to demonstrate proficiency in both self-defence and ‘arrest and control’ techniques with a passing mark of at least 80% as part of the initial training course (it should have been a 100% requirement).
We were supposed to be retested anually but that wasn’t a budget priority for management so for years it got skipped in favour of ‘criminal’s rights’ courses.
Eventually it did get put back on the table, once a court decided that not ensuring proficiency ruined their defence of blaming the Officer in any spurious ‘unnecessary use of force’ claims.
But by then, the retest became full retraining since it had been almost ten years without any formal skills maintenance, and using techniques you’d picked up on your own from private sources or just informally between Officers was against policy, even if they were the same as the ‘official’ ones, just presented a lot better and with more emphasis on coming out alive than making lawyers happy.
When done properly with sufficient force, and the force seems to be particularly strong with Madison, that strike can briefly but instantly paralyze the diaphragm and I can tell you from experience that it stops you in your tracks for a few moments and makes it so painful to breathe afterward that you can barely move. The possibility of a punctured lung or lacerated liver is there but fairly low.
I wouldn’t put it past her to have sewn a layer of powdered lead over the knuckles of those gloves either 😉
In any case, he tried to kill her it’s only fair she gets to kill him back, but I kind of think she wants him conscious, or at least part of him…for a little while 😉
Yeah, couple years ago cracked a rib or two on the left side simply attempting to pull a stubborn weed
Pain almost made me pass out, but sat down and ate an ice-cream with mum to make sure didn’t pass out (no, didn’t go to hospital as there wasn’t anything they coulda done except put a bandage around entire chest and attempt to pump me fulla drugs)
Immobilization is the best thing you can do for a break, even for ribs, it lets the bone ends stay in place to knit better, ribs are particulary bad because you inevitably end up with them moving around even if they’re strapped tight, at least that was my experience.
As drawn, that isn’t even a fully focused blow — her arm is nowhere near full extension — and she cracked some ribs. If she were six or eight inches farther away, Salaiix would be sketching a collapsed lung.
Shows what can happen when you have drugs, two thug allies, and a big gun, so you think you don’t need skilz.
All that time at the gym pays off: https://dangerzoneone.com/comic/chapter-20-page-14/
You can really see Madison’s exhaustion on panels one and three. Wilkos is lucky she wasn’t at full strength.
Ouch, and even if this thug is able to fire his gun again, he won’t really be able to because the recoil would really shake up those broken ribs.
You know shit just got serious when it switches to the xray shot.
Can’t say Wilkos didn’t deserve whatever comes his way right now.
This is the 6th time that Madison Wynter has managed to land a hit on Wilkos Graves.
