A recent poll has revealed that 68% of Palladians believe that most Pallad City police officers are unfit for duty. Survey questions were varied, with some asking how civilians would “grade” their experiences with officers they’ve personally encountered.
46% claimed that they would feel unsafe around an officer, and 29% voted that they would be hesitant to call the police in case of an emergency. 72% were concerned about the physical and psychological health of PCPD officers.
41% are in favor of disbanding the Pallad City Police Department, replacing it with a privatized police force. 50% were against privatization, citing concerns over accountability and potential abuse of power. 9% were undecided.

Don’t recall seeing that many cops with a beer gut, so I’m pretty sure she just jaded. Of course, Madison seem to have a low opinion about the vast majority of people.
True, though being skinny or not obese doesn’t necessarily mean one’s healthy or fit.
Well, Reena here have quite an average body type and we see in last few pages, she is pretty out of shape.
“Beer gut” may just be hypertrophy of the core; see “power lifters” for example. Absent power-lifting, though, it’s more likely symptomatic of self-indulgent over-eating and consumption of alcohol.
So Madison, it really wouldn’t have anything to do with your attitude towards the other officers, right? I don’t know. Wynter’s a tough cop, and that’s good. You need that when lawlessness runs amuck, but she can’t be the entire PCPD.
Law enforcement is a physical gig. Even discounting for the driving around in a patrol car and shooting criminals tropes, sometimes you physically chase a suspect, you’re usually wearing a vest, gun belt, gun, loaded magazines, cuffs, taser, radio, etc. Even if they’re not going to be ripped like Madison, they should be in solid physical shape with better than average endurance and strength. Combine that with some directed training like Maddie is putting Reena through, and that’s what a LEO should be. Haven’t seen enough other PCPD officers in action, but I suspect that a lot of them (at least the older ones, not fresh out of the seemingly reduced-effort academy that Reena graduated from) are somewhere between Reena and Maddie in capability.
