Subject: Madison Wynter, Special Crimes Unit
Chief Hardiman:
I am contacting you in reference to officer Madison Wynter of the Special Crimes Unit. I have reviewed her previous quarterly performance evaluation and, like prior assessments, Ms. Wynter’s approach to her duties as a law enforcement officer is a recurrent cause for concern.
We have discussed this matter on multiple occasions but have been met with noticeable resistance by your Department at every turn. It is crucial that we finally determine how to move forward regarding Ms. Wynter. I understand that you are short staffed and I am aware that, despite Ms. Wynter’s less-than-favorable methods, she holds the highest record of successfully closed cases in your Department. Regardless, it does not deny that Ms. Wynter is the embodiment of the term ‘loose cannon’ and her rogue tactics are something the Department can not condone. In short, as acting Chief of Police, it is your responsibility to rein her in. You are to prohibit any future behavior from Ms. Wynter that may include flagrant policy violations, disregard for established rules and regulations, and her habitual demonstration of “cowboy cop” antics.
Aside from running out of officers to partner Ms. Wynter up with, her notoriety has made it difficult to find anyone willing to work with her, unless they are forcibly assigned. Her reckless behavior has contributed to both public and private property damage (including property owned by the PCPD), has nearly had the Department sued on multiple occasions, and has been the source of more written complaints than I have ever seen attributed to one officer.
Action needs to be taken, effective immediately.

Well, with the info from the nightmare, we readers can come up with a probable explanation for why Madison didn’t drop Reena as quickly: initially, she looks like Satori. Madison by that is reminded of earlier times and a less jaded version of herself. Then Reena follows that up with displaying a lot of idealism and compassion, something Madison somehow feels something about (guessing here: Madison had a lot of potential for the same qualities but very early in life this got suppressed, she still wishes her life had both started and played out differently). I have a strong feeling that Madison cares deeply about actually saving people in general, the people of Pallad City in particular.
Reena also displays ambition and potential, mainly with her talent for quick thinking. What she lacks is knowledge and skills that can practiced. Madison kept Reena as her partner initially (the first two days or so) for emotional reasons outlined above, then she starts to see this potential… and, once or twice, finds that she enjoys Reena’s company. (Probably most everyone treats Madison with a lot more caution, a lot less trust.) She realizes that she can train Reena into a reasonably capable officer and has started this without quite knowing why, is my guess. This why is likely threefold: she does not want Reena dead, she knows that the PCPD needs all capable officers they can get their hands on and here is one that just needs some more training, and finally – but harder to admit – she is starting to realize that she might be able to train Reena into a partner she’d actually like to have. Hard to admit because the still far too likely outcome of a dead Reena becomes so much worse when you’ve had actual thoughts about a slightly brighter future together.
Missed an m in the email address, of course that’s me.
This sounds very spot on to me. I was thinking something similar myself.
Hmm. Sera seems awfully interested in Madison. Come to think of it, it seems to me she bares a striking resemblance to Satori.
Could it be, Sera is Satori in an elaborate disguise?
Nah, probably just my imagination.
It’s a possibility.
I’m not seeing the resemblance between Sera and Satori, but Reena and Satori on the other hand……
Look at Sera’s eyes and facial structure in the second panel when she’s face to face with Reena.
There’s definitely something there. Why is she so interested in Madison? She has to have an ulterior motive.
I figure she’s either Satori in an elaborate disguise, or she may be working for Satori.
There are a lot of possibilities here.
Ulterior motive no I don’t think so. Madison is a very secretive person this gets people curious and the things people come up with in their heads get crazier and crazier. I think it is simply a burning desire to know more
You… almost got it, in you second paragraph, and then you lost it
Sera is ‘interested’ in Maddie, plain and simple
Given the similarities between them and the lack of a body, I’ve got a wild idea that Reena is Satori that’s been mind-wiped for some purpose.
If we’re playing find Satori…
1. It’s not Reena. Madison would know and act.
2. Sera, maybe, I can see the face similarity. But that is a large personality shift whereby her interest in Madison isn’t really a strong argument.
3. What about the cyborg ninja? Now that is one case where Madison briefly seemed like she had seen a ghost!
Considering last time we saw Sera she basically asked Reena to go on a date, and her body language when she asked about Madison, part of me feels she’s after more than just info on Madison.
