Chief:
I want it on record that I’m against doing this undercover operation by the Mayor’s playbook. We should be placing an undercover officer inside the school without anyone at Sumter Academy knowing about it—that’s the only way to guarantee the highest success rate in these ops.
I know the Mayor’s buddy-buddy with Sumter’s top administrators and claims we can trust them, but that’s not how an operation like this is run.
Also, I want an additional officer placed undercover at Sumter. I’ve attached more details in s a separate NetMail.

Officer Wynter:
Regarding how this operation is being conducted, I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, there’s no way around it. Even if the Department wanted to position an officer inside Sumter without the top administration’s knowledge or cooperation, it would be virtually impossible. Sumter has strict (and very selective) student enrollment policies, not to mention steep enrollment costs. That alone rules out placing an officer undercover as a student. Likewise, situating an officer in a faculty or staff position would have been equally difficult.
Mayor Neville pulled the necessary strings with the Sumter board to allow this undercover operation to proceed as is. He has assured me that only three of the top administrators at Sumter will be aware of our operation and none of them will be at the school during the investigation. According to the Mayor, these administrators are rarely even in Pallad City—and haven’t been for months.
I will personally speak with the Mayor about securing placement for another officer within Sumter. I assume the administrators will have to discuss it, but the Mayor is determined that we get Officer Saffron inside Sumter as soon as possible. It may take some additional time for us to place a second officer inside (and for the Cyber Crime Division to create a Net-secure identity for them). Please take that into consideration.

Yeah something tells me that if Wynter is worried about the upcoming undercover operations job, then you can know it is going to be going sideways wrong fast.
Whoever they put in, it better not be Mad. That would be total idiocy at this point.
Which leads me to suspect that this might go doubly wrong, by Hardiman’s attempts falling through and then Madison going rogue and going in herself. Whichever way it goes, there are just high or higher chances of this going wrong or more spectacularly wrong.
The really interesting thing will be to see how Reena, Madison and Hardiman and the PCPD at large deals with failure.
so she’s basically NCIS McGee & Abi in one person
