Regarding Recent Incidents at Sumter Academy:
To All Students:
It has been brought to my attention some students remain deeply concerned about the recent tragedies that have occurred at Sumter. These unfortunate events have been felt by everyone at the Academy—however, I would like to assure all students that these incidents have been investigated by the authorities and were ruled to be accidents.
It has also been brought to my attention that certain students are using these tragedies to spread unfounded rumors and childish gossip. This has started to adversely affect the student body, including student/classroom productivity. Some parents have felt the need to temporarily remove their children from the Academy due to the impact these irresponsible claims are having upon students. Faculty and staff have also voiced their concerns.
Sumter Academy is not an institution that looks kindly upon the spreading of falsities, exaggerations and hearsay regarding “urban legends” or outright non-truths. From this moment forward, any student caught spreading such rumors will face immediate disciplinary action and severe punishment.
I expect, once these rumors are dealt with accordingly, we will see a return to normalcy within a few weeks.

You know, the more that I keep reading about this “ Melpo Thalia “ business, the more that I want to know is WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT PHRASE EVEN MEAN ANYWAY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Is it some kind of curse or a name or something? And in what language is it in anyways: German, Russian, Chinese, Hungarian, Japanese, Nigerian? CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE IS GOING ON HER WITH THAT NAME, PLEASE????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I gotta give mad props to the people who came up with this craziness here. Totally genius, man.
What is the meaning of Thalia and Melpomene?
The Origins of the Comedy and Tragedy Masks of Theatre …
The name Melpomene represents the tragedy mask or Muse of Tragedy and the name Thalia represents the comedy mask or Muse of Comedy. Melpo is the shorter name for Melpomene, meaning a celebration of dance and song.
In short: Melpo Thalia is a cute allusion to “Tragedy is funny, LUL.”
This investigation’s become a lot bigger than either of them originally thought a few chapters back.
