Re: MVX Hyper Interceptors

Chief Hardiman,

I regret to inform you that the five MVX Hyper Interceptors delivered yesterday were the last we had in our inventory. Due to budget cuts, Fleet Services is unable to purchase more cruisers until our contract is renegotiated with Lyger Automotives.

Please advise all officers to use the remaining vehicles with caution and care. Within the last month alone, eight vehicles were totaled, twelve are currently undergoing extensive maintenance, and we’re still waiting for a roof replacement for one cruiser. We do not have the mechanics, parts, or any reserve Interceptors left to handle the recent increase in vehicle replacements/repairs.

As requested, the four MVX-3000 prototypes have also been delivered, with one sent directly to the Special Crimes Unit. These vehicles were not approved by Lyger Automotives for useā€”and I want to go on record as being against the department allowing any officer to drive them. While the specs are maxed out on these models, they were never intended for actual use. We’ve done our absolute best to make them roadworthy in a very short amount of time but, because they’re prototypes, Lyger can not guarantee all safety codes were met. We here at Fleet Services just don’t have the mechanics or time to strip these cruisers down and check every detail.

Officers need to be aware that they’re operating these vehicles at their own risk.
