Any student who damages, vandalizes, and/or defaces school property will be held responsible for their actions and will be subject to full disciplinary action. Consequences may include restitution, exclusion from school activities, suspension, and/or expulsion.
Any damage to school property may also result in legal consequences.

A person’s handwriting might look different when it’s been carved into a desk, then when it’s written on paper.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I feel pretty bad for Ms. Thorne right about now.
If it turns out Thorne’s the killer, maybe she isn’t in the wrong. Maybe she’s just offing a few spoiled rich girls who vandalize her stuff.
Carving shit into the headmistress’s desk is one way to rile her up.

The mystery of WHO did this might be difficult to solve. Most of the students, teachers, and staff seem to dislike Thorne. This could’ve been done by almost anyone in the school!
Yes, there are too many suspects with motive. Also, Siyo and her “mean girl” friends have demonstrated the ability to override biometric locks if I’m not mistaken.
We can at least rule out the students.
