Chapter 6, Page 9

[Pallad City Police Department]
VICTOR HARDIMAN: Have you been able to reach officers Wynter and Saffron yet?
CHERIE ALGRAVE: Negative, chief. No matter what I try, I can’t get a steady signal from either communicator. The frequency scrambling tech on Volkan Island is top-tier.
VICTOR HARDIMAN: Are we at least sure Wynter and Saffron’s I.DACs are still functional?
CHERIE ALGRAVE: I picked up a faint blip from Officer Saffron’s I.DAC, but the signal’s too weak to establish communication. Madison’s on the other hand—I’m not getting anything.
VICTOR HARDIMAN: What does that mean?
CHERIE ALGRAVE: Two possibilities—either she’s in an area with major disruption or the I.DAC itself was destroyed.
VICTOR HARDIMAN: I don’t like this, not one bit. I’ll have officers Gripps and Sev on standby. If we can’t establish any communication within a half-hour, I’ll send them to the island by helicopter.
Danger Zone One. Story by Midnight. Art by Salaiix.
Say hello to my little friend.
Is this a bluff?
There is just so much wrong with that Gatling gun.
The calibers of ammo and barrels don’t match.
The ammo box is 90 degrees off.
There is no power source unless someone was really clever with it being gas or recoil driven rather than the normal electric or mechanical drive.
I suppose the chambers might not match the barrels, but that would mean a shotgun would have a better chance of hitting anything.
I can only guess that the rig was meant to be a distraction rather than a weapon.
Jury rigging one of those drone guns was clever.
Does she just hate people so much she has to torture them to death?
To abandon being human means she has some major issues to be sure. Torture is a power trip of course, but I still think she may be trying to impregnate the good officer.
Considering this is “Danger Zone One”, I think Victor Hardiman’s line should have been “Ready Officers Willard and Simpkin in ‘coptors 3 & 4″…just for the “Top Gun” reference. 🙂
So wynter is canonically strong enough to walk around w/ a 100+ lb strap-on. good to know.
