Irene Soren was inserted into Sumter Academy on November 20th at 1230 hrs. [Sumter’s upper administration had approved our request around 0600 hrs. Soren agreed to the assignment at roughly 0800 hrs and, at 0930 hrs, a member of Sumter’s executive board informed the headmistress to prepare for Soren’s afternoon arrival.]

A Criminal Tech Analyst, Soren’s education/professional background qualifies her to fill in as a science teacher at the school.

Because this was all fast-tracked within hours, Soren was given almost zero preparation for the assignment, nor does she have any prior experience working undercover. With the current officer/personnel shortage, there were no other options available at the time.

I gave Soren a brief rundown of the case and familiarized her with Officer Saffron’s cover story. She’s been directed to make contact with Officer Saffron as soon as possible, but only when there’s no risk of exposing their identities.

Going forward, electronic communication should be kept to a minimum.

As before, none of the on-site faculty, staff, or students are aware of this investigation or Soren’s real identity—including the Academy’s headmistress. Our goal is to keep it that way for as long as possible.
