Many Palladians are still feeling the effects of last night’s storm which resulted in significant wind and flood damage. Additional reports of downed trees, scattered debris, and residual flooding, particularly in the Vadian District, are coming in this morning.
Members of the public are encouraged to report storm damage in their areas. City officials have promised a quick response with crews across the city attending to cleanup and repairs.

Yeah. Sure it is, Ms. Thorne.
Yes, the wind just BLEW it off. Ugh, cuff her for uh what is it obstruction of justice.
Horrifically, there’s a real world example of this. No definite reason why it fell irl but wind gets mentioned. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/woman-killed-by-falling-bricks-outside-south-loop-church/
As much as Madison’s probably not buying Thorne’s story, storm damage could be a reasonable cause/coverup.
A close inspection of the gargoyle and its base on the roof should determine if it snapped off, as Thorne wants Madison to believe, or if there’s indications of tools or levers being used to cut or pry it loose. Get SID out there if needed.
Thorne knows something is up. You can’t run a school like this by being this blind. But Thorne also needs to protect herself and by that the reputation of her school. After all, the paying, high-class parents of her students ensure her (financal) survival.
Now, running a school of high-class spoiled teens means there will be trouble and there probably has been in the past. And the spiel Thorne is giving Madison is probably the same she had done a dozen times in the past: A more serious incident occurs and police gets involved. Thorne is describing the ‘tragic circumstances’ and effectively dictating the report to the police officer, like she is doing here. She (probably correctly) assumes that the police is overworked and understaffed and doesn’t want to be anywhere near this kind of money and influence that is involved at Sumter. So Thorne gets a neat, tidy open-and-shut case that is quickly buried.
Then she either has to deal with the real problem internally or just hope the whole thing blows over.
Lets see how this plays out here.
