Chapter 1, Page 17
Mr. Finkler:
It is with regret that I must inform you that you are being laid off from your position as development engineer, effective immediately. This layoff action is indefinite in duration and should be considered permanent.
I wish to assure you that your termination is not related to your job performance. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, Horizon Global Solutions is reducing its Research and Development staff, particularly in our power suit development division.
I do not anticipate this layoff situation changing in the foreseeable future. We appreciate your contribution to Horizon Global Solutions.
Sincerely,
Gene Stayroff
Supervisor, R&D Division 4-B

Danger Zone One. Story by Midnight. Art by Katsu.
Yep, Gone Postal.
His job was his life and you took it away from him.
Remember folks, Going Postal is a direct result of Inhumane Bureaucracy. You won’t have the first without the second.
Just remember that when you go to the Polls.
Sadly, nobody did. But at least the candidate of Inhumane Oligarchy didn’t get re-elected.
I like the legs btw. The structure implies that the legs fold tightly so the mech can scootch onto a freight elevator or sit low on a truck bed.
Stairwells may still be a problem considering its bulk.
Katsu really got into the mech design with this one. A few of his other earlier sketches were radically different, but this one seemed to fit the bill for a prototype design.
The VX-II’s sheer size has that intimidation factor going for it but, at the same time, will certainly limit or hinder the mech’s effectiveness in select combat scenarios. Fortunately for Raymond (and unfortunately for everyone else), the suit has a few surprises in store that make up for its size.
Hmm… I know I’m late to the party, and I hope this doesn’t sound stupid because I couldn’t wait to read the whole comic before commenting, but perhaps the VX-II is intended as a hunter of other mechs, and that’s why it has to have the extra bulk.
Eh, a mobile suit is much bigger yet it’s still just as effective
