Subject: Officer Madison Wynter

Dr. Belanie,

I’ve read your report regarding Officer Wynter and, I agree, her work hours should be shortened. Your concerns over her frequent injuries, coupled with constant on-the-job stress and fatigue have been noted. Over a week ago, I ordered Wynter off-duty for 48 hours after we believed she came into contact with a psychoactive agent on Volkan Island. As expected of Wynter, she went on her own investigation during that ‘time off’ and ended up injured again.

I’ve attempted to cut back her hours, but she simply takes additional shifts, sometimes working even when her new partner’s shift is over…

Please understand, I greatly appreciate the care and attention you give to our officers. But Officer Wynter will go out on patrol whether I demand she take time off or not. This is nothing new. And, before you suggest that I reprimand her, this department is suffering from catastrophic officer shortages. Suspension is out of the question, and I’m not going to have one of my best officers assigned to traffic duty under the pretense of ‘disciplinary action’.

I will speak with her again, but please temper your expectations.

Sincerely,
Victor Hardiman
Chief of Police
