The following is an excerpt from Ira Sumter: An Educational Legacy, published by Shogu Press.

Ira Sumter’s vision for the Academy did not just extend to the curriculum, but also to the design of the school itself. With distinctive architecture and a striking visual aesthetic, the building is a sight to behold. Upon first arriving at the Academy, it’s impossible to miss the gargoyles on the roof, hand-sculpted by famed Delgadan artist Sirio BalĂst. Invoking a sense of grandeur and prestige, the Academy’s exterior is only one of the structure’s impressive, and unusual, aspects.

During the early stages of construction, Sumter had ordered numerous hidden passageways, concealed doors, and secret rooms to be integrated into the building. The reason for this has since become the subject of much speculation and hearsay. Years of extensive remodeling has drastically altered the original interior, resulting in the removal of many of these mysterious spaces.
