Chapter 2, Page 6
Celebrating our 26th year, the annual Pallad City Halloween Parade welcomes a brand-new electronic Jack O’Lantern! Each year, thousands come to see our spectacular Halloween event, along with the exhilarating lighting of our smiling, globular mascot.
Fun Facts about our new Jack O’Lantern:
The electronic Jack O’Lantern is a geodesic sphere, over 8 meters in diameter and weighing less than 4 tons.
800 LED (light emitting diodes) modules are attached to the Jack O’Lantern’s aluminum frame. Each module contains 50 Plexor Revive-Class LEDs, resulting in 40,000 individual audio-synchronized lights.
Unlike previous years, our new Jack O’Lantern is capable of displaying a palette of more than 16 million vibrant colors and billions of patterns that create an impressive kaleidoscope effect atop Mercury Tower.

Unless it’s got an external skin over it, that’s not a geodesic sphere.
Why do i have this feeling that “with the push of a button” that thing will do something ENTIRELY different from what the Mayor expects?
I’m sure Mr. Jack simply could not resist adding his own personal touches.
Hmmm. With “a palette of more than 16 million vibrant colors,” I seem to have forgotten…Is that palette 32-bit, or 64-bit? Oh well, it looks like we won’t be seeing that much in a black-n-white format anyway, so I guess it doesn’t really matter.
😉
Considering who the “Villain of the Day” that was revealed to us already, what I’m wondering most (without cheating & reading ahead) is: Will it explode…Or will it hypnotize the crowd for some nefarious purpose?
24 bit, 3 by 8 bit, 256 * 256 * 256 = 16 777 216
Which is the modern normal for on-screen colors. I’m not sure but I think most RGB computer bling uses the same. This world has an interesting mix of tech that is ahead of the real world and tech that is just on par or even slightly behind.
