Chapter 24, Page 28
The following is an excerpt taken from Tashida Kom’s guide, Self-Defense Tactics 101.
Ending with a Knockout
Blocking the airway and compressing the trachea (windpipe) of an opponent directly obstructs breathing, leading to oxygen deprivation and unconsciousness.
When applied correctly, it can take as little as 10 seconds of pressure on the carotid arteries or jugular veins to cause complete unconsciousness.
Danger Zone One. Story by Midnight. Art by Salaiix.
Hell yeah, way to go Madison!
Blocking the airway is harder to do and takes longer to kick in, but it causes a longer time that the person is out. The carotid is fast, but in most cases short lived. Your victim can wake up in less than a minute. I studied martial arts as a kid, a chop to the throat did end a fight fast, but unless the wind pipe is crushed, it’s a short term act. A punch to the larynx can be a killing act, it swells up, suffocating the target. A chop causes your target to cough, bend down gasping, presenting their head for a knee or a throw. Or a kick to the groin does the same.
Under the circimstances the most extreme followup possible is indicated. As you say, chockes and strangles are both very short term.
Yeah, I don’t see this happening considering all he had to do was push her off. If her hands weren’t bound I could see it going this way, but I guess Plot Armor made her heavy enough! 🤣
You forget, Trey got kneed into his balls and then headbutted in his face. He doesn’t strike me as someone that is much of a fighter, nor he doesn’t look super strong so I could Madison being able to choke him out with her knee.
Seriously, the guy just got a kick in the balls, nose bashed in a second time, and a knee to the throat. Trey’s also no Charles Atlas, Madison clearly has more muscle than he does. Madison being able to choke him in this situation, after all that, is very believable.
The more muscle in this case means that Madison is heavier than she looks and thus it’s more work for a pretty much temporarily crippled Trey to throw her off.
Looks like the pink is starting to fade from the irises and the blue is returning. Hopefully this indicates a lesser chance of the heart going all explodey.
Unconscious for a few seconds or so. Now you have to stomp him until the head or neck doesn’t hae or neck. Unpleasant but that’s how it works
…. if you’ve seen actual knockouts they go one of two ways – awake in a few seconds or so OR persistent coma. Chokes and strangles end pretty quickly whien the airway is no longer blocked or the baroreceptors in the neck aren’t compressed any longer. Then you have to fight the fight all over again without the element of surprise.
I like how Belanie and Madison each took down one their captors. Two down, three to go.
Madison for the win. Salaiix is hitting it out of the park with these pages. Got to love those expressions on the first and third panels.
If only she killed him.
This is exactly what knee-dead to happen!
