Chapter 25, Page 42
The following is an excerpt taken from Tashida Kom’s guide, Self-Defense Tactics 101.
Underestimating Your Attacker: A Fatal Mistake
Always expect the unexpected when it comes to an assailant, and never underestimate the actions a person will take in order to hurt you. Being lulled into a false sense of security or dismissing potentially threatening behavior can be a deadly miscalculation.
In most cases, you will see some indicator that a person intends to do you harm. This may start with a vocal cue, threatening posture, or a physical advance in your direction. While a surprise attack is possible, being aware of your surroundings can often prevent such a circumstance.
The biggest failure in a self-defense scenario is not identifying that an attack is about to take place. The second critical failure is underestimating an opponent when engaging them in combat.
You must assume that any encounter can be life-threatening. What does not kill you may maim you for life or leave you severely scarred.
Never drop your guard!
Make your defenses such that you give your opponent no openings. Do not stop fighting until your opponent is incapable of inflicting harm upon you. Always opt to safely flee if the possibility exists, otherwise do everything in your power to neutralize your attacker.
Be aware, even if your assailant is rendered unconscious, there is no telling how long it may take until they revive—always assume it will be sooner than you expect.

Uh oh. Looks like the fight isn’t over yet!
Honestly, she should know better and kept on beating her. :p
Sorry, but
Plot stupid == lazy writing
Making the plot move by having smart people who know better repeatedly do stupid things is a flaw.
“Having smart people who know better repeatedly do stupid things”
Madison literally just smashed that woman’s head with a toilet septic lid and watched her drop. LOL Seriously, what did you expect her to do after that? Beat up on a downed perp, possibly kill her, and go to jail for excessive force, just like what would happen in real life?
Guess this is a case where the character’s smarter than some of the people reading the comic XD
Make sure she was down and tie her up would’ve been a good start.
She only hit the ground seconds ago. Not like anyone would’ve been fast enough to tie her up in time anyway with that quick recovery.
No, but Madison took her attention off Nihil to ask Belanie if she was alright and to take off that glove. She should’ve been focused on Nihil still to ensure she was down. It should be obvious to Madison at this point that Nihil isn’t normal and is enhanced in some way.
I’m conflicted about what Madison should have done. You’re right, since we see Nihil’s eye opened, we know she’s still a threat. So in hindsight, securing her would be ideal. But by all appearances, at least to Madison, Nihil did go down and hard from the looks of it. I’d argue that checking on Belanie should be Madison’s first priority. Her co-worker’s on the ground and just got punched by a woman who can kick people through walls. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Madison to prioritize Belanie’s well being to see if she’s gravely injured. A punch like that from someone so strong could’ve caused internal bleeding or worse.
But I guess just like in real life, we’d all act differently in certain scenarios, so it’s all valid. I’d assume that Madison’s next course of action would be to check on Nihil, but I don’t think she’ll get that chance now.
Yes, when she should have a pretty good idea on cybernetic enhanced individuals due to her age and profession.
Not to pull the “acktually” meme here, but Nihil’s not cybernetic enhanced. Genetically modded was what was said and written about her in all those write ups.
Madison’s been drugged, beaten, cuntbusted, and got skull smacked into a mirror. It’s a miracle she’s still standing.
Also don’t think some people understand sense of “time” in comics. Madison’s not standing around for ten minutes here watching Nihil’s body. A couple seconds passed at most.
Let’s not also forget that Madison is sleep deprived as well.
As for the sense of time, I’m pretty much understand it fine. The big issue is that Madison is assuming Nihil is down and is taking the time to ask Belanie is alright and taking off that glove. I’m just saying that Madison should still be alert and in fight mode and moving to check if Nihil is truly down first instead of checking on Belanie and taking off that glove first. Nihil has pretty much shown that she’s not a normal human and is enhanced in some way.
Police are supposed to do the MINIMUM required to stop a suspect not the maximum, continuing to attack a unconscious opponent (no matter how tough they are) is a good way for Madison to get fired.
What if that opponent has shown no regards to others’ personal life or authority of police and also shown no willingness to stop?
Police are supposed to just stand back and say “well, we did the minimum required, looks like it wasn’t enough… oops!”
I warned you, Madison. Double tap that bitch!
Everyone’s getting all beaten and bloody, clearly with more to come.
OK, Well that finally did her I………OH, SPOKE TOO SOON! 😱😱😱😱
This lady’s like the Energizer Bunny.
She just keeps on going and going and going…
Real world advice: if you think it is perfectly safe to walk away it might, MUGHT be safe to run.
Surprised to see Madison actually complimenting Belanie. She doesn’t hand those out too often.
That one eye may be open, but that doesn’t mean anyone is home.
The eye was closed in the previous panel, so someone is home
My hat is off too whoever designed/made that Slutwear top. All of this extreme motion and it has stayed firmly anchored just beneath the nipple line. I don’t discount the fact that Madison has it overstuffed, but that’s some tenacious fabric. Spandex perhaps?
“My hat is off too…”
To, damn it. not “Too”. [Freaking slow fingers. Grumble, grumble.]
Can’t believe Madison is still standing after that dirty cooter kick. She must have steel nerves down there!
She’s not walking fully upright here, so it’s probably still throbbing like hell lmao
I think Belanie’s earned some points in Madison’s book during this whole affair. The doc saved her from Wilkos, Yalee, a potential heart attack, and Nihil. That’s an impressive feat in so short a time.
The fight is not over until the assailant is under full control.
If you shoot them twice in the head you still handcuff them !!
I think you mean check to see if they are dead. No need to handcuff/tie up a dead body.
Two words of advice when fighting an enemy who just won’t quit: Curb Stomp
Always double tap… or Armies of Darkness “It’s a trick, get and axe!”
I’ve noticed the updates have been slipping the schedule the past several weeks. Wondering if everything is well with our authors? In the past updates have been regularly on schedule Wednesdays and Sundays.
Always double (or even triple or more) tap
If using blunt weapons, keep going until the target is a smear, or the weapon is broken, which ever comes last
