VICTOR HARDIMAN: Any word yet on reaching officers Wynter and Saffron on Volkan Island?

CHERIE ALGRAVE: Sorry, no luck yet. Still not getting any signal.

VICTOR HARDIMAN: What does that mean? Are their I.DACs non-functional, or are they just not responding?

CHERIE ALGRAVE: All I.DAC transmissions are scrambled. I tried the boat radio and the signal’s going through perfectly fine—but no one’s answering. They must still be on the island and, best I can tell, that’s where the interference’s coming from.

VICTOR HARDIMAN: Try again every ten minutes, and let me know the instant you pick up anything.
