MIXIN’ IT UP: VARIETY IN FITNESS

Ever go to the gym and see the same guy hogging that SteelBeast 3000 every day? It’s like he’s glued to the machine—and your gym only has one. Is the rest of the equipment occupied by the same familiar faces? It’s a fact of fitness life—if you’re visiting the gym on a regular basis, you’ll start to see a pattern: the same people doing the same routines day in and day out.

It’s good to be disciplined, but abiding by the same routine each day leads to stagnation. A week pumping weights to get those rippling biceps is not a full workout. This is the age old conundrum when more is actually less. Don’t forget working the legs. What about hitting the track or treadmill? Take some laps in the pool. Focus on honing your entire body. Variety is key to maximum fitness. Weights are fine, but mix it up with punching bags, push-ups, crunches, toss in some jump rope, do a rep of squats, the list is endless.

You’re at the gym to push yourself, so don’t limit yourself to only one or two routines. Work that entire body!
